Hi John, this post took me right back to presenting for the first time (I think Denise was watching!) I spoke in the US and found out the hard way that their definition of turnover was quite different to our UK version. A little embarrassing! I’m amazed any of them remained in the audience at all after I triumphantly announced my career stats on boosting clinic turnover by 25% per annum! As they say, we live and learn. ;-)

    Thanks Dave
Just back from an excellent ‘Hot Rocks’ VetPartners meeting in St Louis where I was delighted to renew acquaintances with so many friends and colleagues in the US and Canada. I have made similar gaffes with a number of business terms which mean different things on each side of ‘the pond’ – such as ‘termination’, ‘compensation’ (remuneration), ‘receivables’ (debtors), ‘payables’ (creditors), ‘inventory’ (stock) and so on. I’m sure accountants and lawyers could find plenty more. Came back with a number of interesting video interviews with Denise Tumblin, Amanda Donnely, Kirk Eddleman, Louise Dunn and Joel Parker for future episodes of the Video Show
    All the best
    John
